Senate Passes Stimulus Bill — Who Knew The Moon Would Make the Call?

Bookmark and Share

stim2

At 12:43 PM, the Senate passed President Obama’s Stimulus Plan in a 61-37 vote largely cast along party lines.

My take on the “when” Congress would get off it’s overpriced pants and get busy on behalf of the people coincided with 1) the February 9 Lunar Eclipse; and 2) Moon moving from it’s void degrees in Leo into shriekingly efficient Virgo.

That’s just how it happened, folks. Today’s Virgo Moon was at 7 degrees of hard working maiden’s sign on approach to a conjunction with (gulp) retrograde Saturn.

As I pointed out in my Lunar Eclipse blog notes, the midpoints and progressed Sun-Moon in the USA’s chart tell the larger story. I’m reproducing the midpoint hits list just below so you can mark for yourself just how tightly connected our early 2009 soli-lunar patterns are tied into our destiny. Heads up. The New Moon of February 24 is at 6 Pisces. Here we go again.

The Solar Eclipse of January 26 at 6+ Aquarius may have laid the groundwork, but the Lunar eclipse has exceeded my expectations when it comes to energetic offloads. Offloads, in Starcats lingo, means events rushing forth as the Moon travels back to the arms of Sol. (New Moon).

As I marked for you on the graphic for the vote chart, Obama’s natal South Node (on his Ascendant), which is conjunct the USA’s natal Moon (27 Aquarius) is on the Midheaven of the Stimulus vote chart.

southnObama’s South Node on the MC reveals the sacrifice made and called for on behalf and by the people of the United States. As Celeste Teal writes in her excellent book “Lunar Nodes: Discover Your Soul’s Karmic Mission” (available from Amazon books):

”When the nodes lie across the Ascendant and Descendant . . . the life appears particularly fateful or predestined. These individuals live a life or providence. In other words, the higher cosmic forces have greater influence over that life.” (pg. 21).

And:

“Those with South Node conjunct the Ascendant are very soulful people. . . . They have a sense of how ephemeral life really is.” [Obama’s father abandoned the family when he was very young. His mother died when he was a teen.]

The foregoing being cited regarding South Node Ascendant people, Ms. Teal also remarks that those with this chart signature are often called to sacrifice – that is pour out of themselves for a calling much greater than themselves. Obama’s South Node conjunct the USA’s Moon denotes a sacrificial calling by the president (Obama’s South Node on the vote chart’s MC) to Congress, and to the people of the United States to toughen up and pony up. This is going to be a hard ride.

The Ascendant of the vote chart at 20 Gemini is conjoined to the USA’s natal Mars in it’s 7th house. Those who read me know I prefer the Sibley chart with 12 Sagittarius rising. The vote chart Ascendant on the USA’s Mars is in square to it’s Neptune in Virgo which takes the heat from transiting Saturn in retrograde – the planet that reveals (among other things) a state of ruin that one can barely face. This configuration is opposed by eruptive and radical reactionary Uranus who’s greatest dread is being pinned down without options.

The lunar nodes at 9 Leo/Aquarius are in t-square to the safety and security asteroid Vesta in the vote chart. She’s in transit to her natal position in the USA’s chart (20 Taurus). It would seem that the fate of our very security and safety are caught up with Congress’s (11th house is where we locate that deliberative body) actions. >/p>

Since nothing has been done since the announcement of the economic meltdown on September 15, 2008 (Virgo Sun there, folks) except the stuffing of rich banker’s pockets by Henry Paulson with proceeds grabbed out of the first half of the $700bn bailout package, what SACRIFICE are we talking about here? There has been – and probably will not be – anything much given to the American people who are having their backs broken by having to pay to keep the rich in cuban cigars and champagne.

The transiting Sun has just passed over Chiron in the humanity based sign of Aquarius. Aye, therein lies the rub. Who has taken on the wound? The people? The president on behalf of the people? Or do the people bear up with the president as we all walk this trail of tears? What dreams may die when Chiron reaches its conjunction with Neptune this coming April?

Finally, it is worth speculating as to what wound will the President will sustain when Chiron transits his South Node in March of 2010? Let us be hopeful and speculate that it will have something to do with his political power rather than something more sinister.

Finally a quick reminder – I’ll be Robin Richardson’s featured guest on her radio show on Wednesday, February 11 at 10 PM EST/7PM PST. Sign up at Ask 1 Radio is 100% free. Robin and I will be discussing the astrology of relationships. We’ll touch on super topics like the lunar nodes and the vertex (fated encounter point) in cross-chart comparisons while powering down Valentine’s Day chocolate. Be there!

Below you’ll find the midpoint hits I mentioned above. Enjoy!

February 10, 2009 — Starcats

Ready? Lock and Load Your Midpoints!

The list below sets out major cross-chart hits from the Eclipse chart Asc/MC midpoint to President Obama’s chart and the progressed chart of the USA

USA’s progressed Sun is 4 Pisces 16 (remember, the eclipse chart’s Asc/MC midpoint is 4 Pisces 15).

The USA’s progressed Moon is 5 Virgo 43. The USA, by progression, has reached a Full Moon climax cycle. From here on out, the USA’s progressed Moon is in her waning phase. As is the case with any Full Moon lunation whether it is an eclipse or a progressed cycle, the life phase in question has crested and now disseminates the fruits of it’s labor whether for good or ill.

The Sun/Uranus midpoint in the eclipse chart is 5 Pisces 55.

The Moon/Saturn midpoint is 5 Virgo 41.

President Obama’s Venus/Neptune midpoint natally is 5 Virgo 11.

His Mars/Ascendant midpoint is 5 Sagittarius 18 (forming a grand mutable square with the aforementioned mutable chart midpoints. See other placements below as they are also hoooked into the grand square).

Obama’s Uranus/Vertex (Vertex is a point of fated encounters in the horoscope) is 4 Virgo 05.

The President’s Neptune/Part of Fortune is at 2 Aquarius 55 (I digress to mention that this midpoint equates to President John F. Kennedy’s pre-natal Solar Eclipse that proved to be fated and ultimately fatal in connection with his brother Joe, brother Robert and his own destiny in Dallas, Texas. This does not mean I’m predicting the same for President Obama. It means that the President must be very careful, especially during January and February 2009).

[Another Starcats digression!] Obama’s Uranus/South Node midpoint equate to 26 Taurus 17, the degree of Mars on the July 7, 2009 Lunar eclipse. 26 Taurus is Caput Algol a most unfortunate fixed star placement. [read about Algol here. The president will need to be very careful during this eclipse as well. Also, the Democratic Party’s (chart) Mercury is at 26 Taurus (Joe Liberman’s Uranus is 26 Taurus!) so I it appears the party as a whole will see someone in high position “beheaded” or “heads will roll” at this time. Sen. Joe Lieberman could be at the center of some of this flap. Also Al Gore’s Venus is conjunct Algol — Al Gore (you can’t make this stuff up!. What will Mr. Gore teach us about global warming this summer? What events such as massive fires (droughts) are on our horizon?

The USA’s progressed chart at it’s full progressed moon cycle along the Virgo/Pisces axis connects deeply with the Midpoints found in the Feb 9 Lunar Eclipse chart and in Barack Obama’s natal chart.

It can be no accident that the President’s call for service and sacrifice resonate with the waning Moon phase indicated in the USA’s progressed chart. The apex (full moon) has crested. The USA’s progressed Moon is now one degree past her opposition with the progressed Pisces Sun.

Robin Richardson and I will be discussing the Astrology of Relationships LIVE on Wednesday, February 11 at 10 PM EST/7PM PST.

It’s just about that time again, you know, that day of days marked February 14th on your calendar. Will your gal/guy run for the hills or are you two going to connect? Is this relationship one that clicks and sticks or is it a hit and run accident?

Robin and I are going to talk about how astrology can point us in the right direction when it comes to evaluating our relationships. Find out how cross-chart comparison (synastry) and composites (midpoint blends) work. Why are some relationships “fated?” or feel like they are? Why are we attracted to some people but not others?

Check out my Website for more on what astrology can reveal about your potential partner and how you can book a relationship reading with me.

ASTRO FACTOIDS

* Did you know that the position of the Moon in your horoscope compared to another’s can tell you whether or not you will feel comfortable and supported by that person?
* Did you know that the position of the Venus in your horoscope compared to another’s can tell you whether or not you share similar opinions on money and how to spend it?
* Did you know that Mars and Venus’s positions can reveal whether or not a couple is sexually compatible?
* Did you know that the positions of Venus, Mars in relation to Pluto may or may not spell “obsession?” Did you know that Uranus may spell a one night stand or a sudden infatuation?
* Did you know that the position of Jupiter in your horoscope as compared to another’s can tell you whether or not you share a harmonious belief system? Political opinions? Religious values?
* Did you know that the position of Saturn in your horoscope as compared to another’s can tell you whether or not the relationship is even going to last?
* Did you know that the foregoing is true whether you’re straight or gay; young or old; short or tall; fat or thin? It doesn’t matter, doesn’t matter, doesn’t matter! God and the stars are equal opportunity match makers!

We’ll also discuss the chart for this year’s 2/14 and how it impacts your personal LOVESCOPE. Callers-in are encouraged! Robin will do 2 minute free readings during the second half of the one hour show. Be there!

Starcats’ Melange: February 9 Lunar Eclipse

Bookmark and Share

I’m placing the February 9, 2009 lunar eclipse into the very competent hands of Shelley Ackerman and Lynda Hill as well as some other stellar astrologers because the ground under Starcats (currently experiencing Neptune transiting her Aquarian 6th house) is dissolving like a million tabs of Alka-Seltzer dumped in swimming pool. Oh, the creative is looming high. My dreams are powerful and potent. My visualizations are super-amped, but try as I might. I can’t focus! I can’t get organized!

Take a hike over to Susan Miller’s Astrology Zone and read your February forecast. Remember to read for your rising sign (if you know it) as well as your Sun sign. The reason? Reading a forecast based upon your rising sign places all the transiting planets into the actual houses they’re visiting in your horoscope. What you learn from astrologers like Susan Miller is how accurate transits can be.

Today’s blog is melange mix, jumble, potpourri, mishmash, medley, blend, hodgepodge, muddle, assortment, mixed bag and crazy quilt (see, I can at least use a Thesaurus) of links to news articles that testify to the rambunctious January-February caught up in our new year’s lunations and eclipse patterns. It seems I’m best suited right now to set out chunks of things, but I lack the concentration to string them all together into a coherent whole. Can you imagine how frustrating this is for a Virgo rising woman who’s lived nearly 60 years of her life with natal Saturn in her ascendant!?

There are a gazillion things I want to tell you! If only my brain would let me!

I’ll have to console myself with giving you some precious little Midpoint clues to our eclipses and lunations in hopes that you’ll be inspired to break out your crystals and become your own favorite oracle. A bit o’ Tarot and Rune reading and reflection might come in handy too.

Take the information I’ve set out below inward and let it bubble through the waters of your creative unconscious. It seems that right now — for me anyway — that’s what we’re supposed to be doing!

2009 Jan-Feb Lunar And Eclipse Cycles

January 10, 2009, Full Moon (not an eclipse) at 21 Cancer

Jan 26, 2009, Solar Eclipse 6 Aquarius 31

February 9, 2009, Lunar Eclipse 20 Leo 59

February 24, 2009, New Moon (not an eclipse) 6 Pisces 35

Eclipse Midpoints and Other Mysteries

This Fixed Air eclipse is low on the element of water. Intuitive thinkers will be inspired (Air and Fire signs) but Earth and Water signs might feel out of their element — literally. Air and Earth and Fire and Water are often drawn to each other when compensation by element and function are needed, but unless other elements by synastry (chart comparison) supply strong bulwarking such as:

Ascendants and chart rulers compatible by sign;

Sun-Moon in flowing aspect;

Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter complementary by element and aspect;

A harmonious planet such as Venus or Moon in close cross-chart harmony with the lunar nodes; partnerships of all kinds can suffer.

But not to worry too intensely. The New Moon of February 24th (not an eclipse) at 6 Pisces will help bring Earth and Water back into balance. Air and Fire signs can be soothed by late February’s Sun-Moon seed moment by admitting and allowing the flow of water over earth to heal circuitry that connects the pathways to body-mind integration.

Several of the Lunar Eclipse’s midpoints connect to the progressed chart of for the United States. The midpoint taps are very important to watch over the coming 5-6 months. The Eclipse lasts 5 hours and 54 minutes, which equates to as many months of calendar time for eclipse impact. That means that by July 7, the next Lunar Eclipse, the lunar eclipse on our horizon now will most likely fade out in favor of the Cancer/Capricorn axis highlighted in July.

The Ascendant/Midheaven

The Lunar Eclipse’s Ascendant/Midheaven midpoint is 4 Pisces 15. The Asc/MC midpoint in any chart reveals where the self and one’s actions flow outward into manifestation — the point of highest expression. 4 Pisces flows from the Eclipse chart’s 11th house (set for 9:49 AM, Washington, DC), the house the ancients called The House of the Good Daimon (or spirit). Here spirit takes on “body” as an action or events. The consciousness embodied by the entity in question makes a choice as to whether what is manifested will be judged as “good” or “bad.”

As is the case with any Full Moon lunation whether it is an eclipse or a progressed cycle, the life phase in question has crested and now disseminates (spills forth) the fruits of it’s labor whether for good or ill.

See other placements below as they are also hooked into the grand square).

The USA’s Progressed New Moon (rebirth cycle) at 19 Pisces 26 doesn’t occur until March 25, 2024 (two years after her Pluto return!).

10 Virgo rises in the progressed chart. It’s Midheaven is 7 Gemini with progressed Uranus conjunct the MC angle! (The USA’s natal Uranus is at 8 Gemini). Progressed Neptune rises in the progressed chart at 25 Virgo retrograde. A transit chart for that day reveals Saturn and Venus conjoined at 12 and 16 degrees of Pisces in orb of conjunction with the USA’s progressed Sun-Moon conjunction.

This meandering of mine has a point that goes beyond the sheer joy of blogging about planet and midpoint dialogues. There’s a revelation here from sky that shows that the country as we’ve understood it is in a dismantling phase. The Virgo/Pisces progressions in the USA chart point out the need to create order (Virgo/Mercury) out of Chaos (Pisces/Neptune).

At the same time, this axis leads us to the threshold of a national LETTING GO in favor of new forms and new ways of being that mean (as Obama said) everyone putting a bit of skin in the game. These changes are going to hurt. A nation with Sagittarius rising (I prefer the Sibley chart) won’t easily forego mobility (unlimited access to fossil fuel for cars), access to excess (credit cards, unbridled feel-good shopping), or the national myths (USA Ascendant) that encourage and uplift America’s people.

Doing with less having fewer opportunities massive unemployment and a crumbling infrastructure don’t inspire national confidence. No, Virginia, there is no Santa Claus. What we do for America between now and 2024 will say a lot about our national character and who we want to be in the 21st Century. We have to learn to play nice with others and understand that everybody on earth wants and deserves a piece of the pie.

Quotables

“. . . eclipses relate the Moon most significantly not only to the Earth, but also to the Sun. As the Moon represents the past and the Sun the present, the past will tend to boscure the present in a solar eclipse. A North node eclipse begins something what comes to conclusion at the following South node eclipse.” Cycles of Becoming by Alexander Ruperti, pg. 71.

“Unless the lunar eclipse touches important points in the birth-chart, specifically the Horizon [Ascendant] or Meridian [Midheaven] axes or some important planetary opposition, its occurrence may not be evident.” Cycles of Becoming by Alexander Ruperti, pg. 70.

Factoids

This lunar eclipse follows the Solar one of January 26, 2009 at 6 Aquarius 31. Solar eclipses followed by lunar ones complete a lunar cycle. Whatever was seeded at the Solar event in late January will be “fatefully and spectacularly fulfilled or repudiated at the following eclipsed Full Moon.” [Ruperti, pg. 71].

Starting from January 10th’s Full Moon (21 Cancer 02) where the Sun-Neptune midpoint was 6 Aquarius 53 (degree of January 26 Solar Eclipse!)…….

Solar Eclipse of Jan 26th was on the USA’s natal South Node that reiterates the elemental balance in the USA’s Declaration of Independence chart. Lacking the element of fire.

Heads Up!

Sully Pam Young reports that she phoned the hall of birth/death records in Denison, Texas and asked if she could please have the time of birth of Chesley Sullenberger. Pam told the clerk she was in possession of his date of birth, January 23, 1953, but needed the time of birth in order to construct an accurate horoscope. The clerk promptly looked up Sullenberger’s birth records and quoted 5:06 am. That gives Sully a 25 Sagittarius rising with Lunar Nodes across the aviation/travel and transporation axis associated with the 3rd and 9th houses of the horoscope. You just can’t make this stuff up!

Pam says maybe it was the Mercury retrograde that prompted the clerk to bypass the usual confidentiality rules. But heck, why look a gift retrograde horse in the mouth? Since we don’t yet have a BC in hand, we should say so when using this birth time. A grateful shout out to NCGR, Pam Young and to Karen McCauley, faculty member at Kepler College, for forwarding this information to me. You can contact Pam Young by E-Mail.

Eclipses, The Pre-Natal Solar Eclipse And Captain Sully

(and God help me with this Mercury Retrograde!)

If you didn’t get a chance to catch me live last night on Storm Cestavani’s radio show hosted by Ask1Radio.com, here’s a courtesy link to the MP3 of the broadcast — have a listen!

As Storm mentioned at the top of the hour, we haven’t had 6 eclipses in one year since 1941. I forgot to mention on air a couple of interesting eclipse factoids:

In 1935 there were 5 solar eclipses but only two lunar ones. That is so exceptional that it only happens once every 300 years.

In 1951 there were two solar eclipses but no lunar ones. That was also an exceptional eclipse year.

Here’s a perfect example of how a Pre-Natal eclipse and the lunar nodes played a vital role in public life.

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III

January 23, 1951, 12:00 PM (no time known) CST+6:00, Denison, Texas

Captain Sully’s pre-natal solar eclipse took place on September 12, 1950 at 19 Virgo. As you can see from Sully’s birth chart, The good captain was born with a number of planets in the degree of his lunar nodes and in the exact degree of his pre-natal solar eclipse.

Sully’s North Node is 19 Pisces, the degree transiting Uranus (ruler of aircraft and aviation). Transiting Saturn, now retrograde opposes Uranus from Virgo and will do so a total of 5 times between now and 2010.

2009-2010 Saturn-Uranus Oppositions:

Nov 4, 2008

Feb 5, 2009

Sept 15, 2009

Apr 26, 2010

Jul 26, 2010

Sully’s Venus (19 Aquarius), Pluto (19 Leo), Neptune (19 Libra) are all in the degree of his natal lunar nodes and the degree of his pre-natal solar eclipse. As you can see, Sully’s pre-natal solar eclipse was set off via our current planetary transits to his natal lunar nodes.

Shout out to Michael Wolfstar who caught the USA Vesta connection in his Stariq column on Sully. “In addition, Sully’s fateful North Node at 19º Pisces is exactly sextile the U.S. Vesta (at 19º Taurus), with both being activated by transiting Uranus (at 19º Pisces), the planet of unexpected crises. Any astrologer concerned about security and safety issues—whether financial, technological, or military—would be well-served to use Vesta.”

Another shout goes to Astrologer Shelley Ackerman “The days before one’s birthday, especially when an eclipse looms nigh, are often dramatic. On Thursday, January 15, 2009 little did veteran pilot Chelsey B. Sullenberger III know when he woke up that morning, that by the end of the day, he’d be the man of the hour. . . ”

U.S. Airways Flight 1549 Take-off

January 15, 2009, 3:24 pm, Flushing, NY, 8 Cancer Ascendant

Pilots and pundits remarked again and again that no pilot had ever successfully ditched an aircraft and certainly no pilot had ever been ever to ditch on water. What in the Take-Off chart can we find that helps us identify why Sully was successful?

First, the Ascendant at 8 Cancer is closely aligned with the USA’s (1776 chart) natal Sun at 13 Cancer which is conjoined to the luckiest of fixed stars, Sirius. The Moon at 28 Virgo is void of course. This is a key to Sully’s success. First, it shows that the flight itself would come to no avail. Nothing would come of it (a flight that wouldn’t make it to it’s destination) but also anything that might occur to the craft itself would “come to no avail.” Void of course moons often signal “nothing comes of the matter. No consequences.”

Next, Uranus (ruler of pilots, aviation and aircraft) at 19 Pisces is aligned with Sully’s future oriented North Node. His Natal Venus at 19 Aquarius (Uranus ruled) is aligned with the Take-off flight’s Chiron. Chiron may signify wounds, but the base of the word Chiros means “hands.” Chiron transiting Aquarius signals a steady “hand” as well as a healing one. Remember that Captain Sully walked his entire aircraft twice to make sure all passengers were off the plane before he disembarked. Sully’s lunar nodes, aligned along the service axis of Virgo/Pisces was supercharged by virtue of his pre-natal eclipse being activated by current planetary transits.

The Take-off chart’s Jupiter (the benevolent one of the planetary gods) at 2 Aquarius, is conjoined to Sully’s birth sun. Sully has an out-of-sign conjunction to safety and security Vesta (29 Capricorn). Jupiter’s conjunction to his sun and close proximity to Vesta provided that stroke of luck Sully needed to align with his keen nano-second decision-making skills. It helps when you’re a qualified member of MENSA by the time you hit the age of 12! See Sully’s bio

It bears mentioning that the preceding Full Moon of January 10 (21 Capricorn 02) held a crucial mid-point secret. The distance between the Sun and Neptune (22 Aquarius) was 6 Aquarius — the degree of our upcoming Solar Eclipse (January 26, 2009). Pluto’s (life and death issues) ascending node in the Full Moon chart (yes, planets also have nodes) was 20 Cancer conjunct the Full Moon and in opposition to the Sun. FM Mercury at 7 Aquarius sits on the midpoint of Sun-Neptune and reiterates the upcoming Solar Eclipse degree of January 26.

Sully has what I call a natal T-square of brilliance in his birth chart. He’s got Mercury in opposition to Uranus and both planets square Saturn exalted in the mental balance sign Libra. The focal point or outflow point for energy caught in the T-square is Saturn. Quick thinking (Mercury-Uranus) is tempered and disciplined (Saturn) judicially (Libra) so that decisions made can have the best outcome.

Of course, Sully’s Mars conjunction Jupiter shows what a hot dog pilot he was in the AirForce. Placed in the sign of Pisces and in the degree of the Lunar Nodes (9 Aquarius/Leo) of the Flight 1459 chart point to Sully’s years of service (Pisces/Virgo) in the military (Mars-Jupiter conjunction) paid off. All 150 passengers and members of the crew aboard Sully’s flight survived the ditch into the Hudson. We all benefitted from Sully’s act of brillance, bravery and service at a time when our nation needed to cheer and feel proud again.

What a wonderful way to step into Barack Obama’s inauguration as our 44th president 5 days later.

But he had swear his oath twice!

And that’s my subject for another column. — Starcats, January 23, 2009

Reminder:

Our first eclipse is a Solar one at 6 degrees 30 minutes Aquarius set for January 26, 2009 at 2:59 AM, Washington, DC. It’s the first supercharged lunation (all eclipses are lunations, but not all lunations are eclipses) of Barack Obama’s presidency.

3:28: Just north of the George Washington Bridge, jet’s altitude is 2,000 feet and speed is 232 mph.

3:29: First of what officials call 120 911 calls reporting crash in the Hudson.

3:31: Jet drops from radar, apparently has landed in water.

3:32: NYPD Emergency

Starcats, Mercury Retrograde, Eclipses & Lunations!

storm

Heads Up! I’ll be Storm Cestavani’s featured guest on his radio show Jan 22, 2009 at 11PM EST/8 PM PST.

If you haven’t checked out the 100% free Ask1Radio.com, hie thee hence and sign up. Storm and I will be discussing the astrology of eclipses. You won’t want to miss this broadcast. We’re facing a year of 6 eclipses — 2 Solar and 4 Lunar. This is a repeat of the 1990 eclipse cycle, so check out this 1990 timeline and do some thinking about where you were and what you were doing.

Solar Eclipse, January 26, 2009

se-dc1

Our first eclipse is a Solar one at 6 degrees 30 minutes Aquarius set for January 26, 2009 at 2:59 AM, Washington, DC. It’s the first supercharged lunation (all eclipses are lunations, but not all lunations are eclipses) of Barack Obama’s presidency.

The Eclipse rulers are Saturn (traditional ruler of Aquarius) and Uranus (modern ruler). Both planets are in orb of opposition to each other. The first of 5 perfect oppositions of the two occurred on Election night, November 4, 2008. Oppositions are starkly confrontational and the two players are aligned along Virgo/Pisces, the axis known as the serve or suffer polarity.

Obama’s natal 6th house Sun (in egocentric Leo) resonates with the concept of service because of the Solar god’s natal placement in the house of humility. Obama began his political career by giving service as a community organizer. Obama’s natal 6th house in dramatic Leo reveals that this solar placement was bound to bring him publicity and a place on the national stage.

The Lord of the eclipse is Jupiter, the planet closest in degree to the Sun and Moon, shares the highest dignity (valuation) of the planets in the eclipse, and although occulted (eclipsed) by the Sun and Moon, technically rises east of them by two degrees at the maximum height of this celestial event.

A few quickie rules to keep in mind when evaluating eclipses. Which planet is closest in degree to an eclipse? That’s your Lord. That’s a special designation that goes beyond identifying the sign rulers. If Jupiter is Lord or in the degree of the eclipse nodes or tightly aspected to the eclipse, the darling gas bag expands the eclipses themes. Mars fulfilling the aforementioned criteria stimulates eclipses by virtue of his impatience, ham-fistedness and (with Mercury) big mouth. Saturn, by contrast, usually cuts short, cuts off, depresses, constricts, contracts and ends an eclipse cycle. These are just a few basic ideas to get you thinking before my big night on Storm’s radio show!

Just so you know, Mars is at 22 degrees Capricorn conjoined to Mercury in the Solar Eclipse chart. Both planets are in orb of conjunction of Barack Obama’s Saturn, the USA’s Pluto and in opposition to the USA’s natal Mercury. USA Mercury and transiting Mercury are both retrograde. So the question is: what angry reactions and debates will take place after Obama signs his very first legislation the day is he inaugurated? Since transiting Mercury is retrograde, what will he be forced to undo or revise by the time of the Lunar eclipse of February 10th at 21 Leo/Aquarius?

Mercury turned retrograde on January 11, 2009 at 7 Aquarius, which is in line with January 26th’s eclipse degree. The little guy goes direct on February 1 at 21 Capricorn (The degree of the full Moon of January 10) and won’t be out of its retrograde shadow degrees until February 21-22. Mercury by virture of its retrograde backtracking will make a total of three conjunctions to Obama’s natal Saturn, Michele’s natal Sun, the USA’s natal Pluto while opposing the USA’s natal Mercury along the way.

[Mercury is retrograde, and since Mercury is my natal chart’s ruling planet, cut me some slack while I veer all over the place!]

I don’t want to forget to bring up one of my mega-finds tucked away in the Full Moon chart (2009’s first lunation) of January 10th, set for Washington, DC. The Ascendant is 26 Virgo, accentuating and introducing into our Solar year that serve or suffer Virgo/Pisces axis. Venus in her loving exaltation is in Pisces in the 6th (!!) house along with the Vertex (fated point) and Uranus of dynamic change straight from the sky god himself. The Part of Fortune is also in Pisces conjoined to the Descendant at 26 Pisces.

What really got me is that the midpoint between the Sun and Neptune (Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces. The traditional ruler is Jupiter) is 6 Aquarius 30 — or the degree of January 26th Solar Eclipse!

The Ascendant/Midheaven midpoint is 11 Leo 06, or conjunct Barack Obama’s 6th house natal Sun in the sign of Leo.

Obama’s natal Jupiter is at 0 Aquarius, the degree the Sun is always in for a presidential inauguration. In fact, Obama had his Jupiter Return (we have them every 12 years) in the days leading up the the New Year’s first lunation.

Obama’s natal Saturn is conjunct the New Moon’s Juno — an asteroid that is powerfully connected to personal marriage but also to important political alliances both national and international as well.

I suspect that these points of contact, now written in the Akashic Records for all time, point to the fact Obama’s alliances as president will be fraught with complexities, complications, and difficulties — his natal Saturn, Michele’s Sun, and the New Moon chart’s Juno sit on the USA’s natal Pluto opposite it’s Mercury.

Obama’s alliances with Congress have already been tested as he pressed for the additional billions resting in the TARP account in order to help jump-start the economy. Whereas Republican law makers balked at handing the funds over in a (now) rare moment of fiscal concern for the country, they quickly reversed course and handed the funds to the president-elect.

What do all these planetary hits mean? Why list them? Why talk about them? Because tucked away in these charts, the earliest ones for 2009, are the clues to how Obama’s first year as president are going to unfold. We the people have a huge stake in how events play out.

Eclipses and powerful lunations that make aspect to the charts of world leaders and nations have significant impact on us personally (our own horoscopes and lives resonate), on the collective body (“we the people”), and at all points where the collective lines blur and merge with the personal and vice versa.

I think our nation’s leaders ignore astrology at their and our peril. America faces nothing less than the resurrecting of herself after an astonishing rapine and savage 30 years spawned by the so-called Reagan Revolution.

The time has come for 50% of the electorate to come to grips with the fact that trickle-down economics, the invisible hand of the market place and Milton Friedman/Shock Doctrine economics don’t work. Old ideas and ideologies have brought us to the brink of disaster. Let’s turn this Titanic around before she really does hit the iceberg. — Starcats, January 17, 2009.

Pluto & Irrevocable Change – The Big Three

Pluto & Irrevocable Change – The Big Three

If Pluto points to irrevocable change, and the sign Capricorn is associated with big business, the three automakers, Ford Motor Company (June 16, 1903, Dearborn, MI) General Motors (September 16, 1908, Flint, MI) and Chrysler Corp. (Jun 6, 1925, Detroit, MI) are solidly in line for transformation of the kind that is not negotiable.

So too the great state of Michigan (January 26, 1837, Detroit, MI). It has been reported that one out of ten American jobs is related to the automotive industry. The fate of these workers, the various states that depend upon the car industry to keep them in jobs (including the tire and rubber industry) are engaged in a fight for survival.

The life and death struggle of what once was a testament to innovative technology (Henry Ford’s streamlined mass production lines) affording millions of Americans access to mobility and reinvented social status and massive cultural change, is apparent when looking at the aforementioned horoscopes.

Although the charts for the Big Three are solar charts (no birth times known), a lot can be learned by noting the elemental balances. Ford has no earth in the chart. Hence, it is difficult for this corporation to “ground itself.” The company’s longevity is further undermined by it’s natal Chiron positioned at 21 Capricorn retrograde. The Chironic wound to a solid corporate structure, success and good reputation, as well as product integrity (remember the exploding Ford Pinto?) has been set off throughout the decades everytime one of the weighty ones such as Saturn through Pluto make a stressful aspect to natal Chiron. We’re now looking at the approach of transiting Pluto and also Saturn to Ford’s natal Chiron from 2019 to 2020.

Ford’s natal Pluto at 19 Gemini is conjunct the USA’s Mars and is in square to the USA’s natal Neptune of dissolution. Without earth, at the time when Pluto transiting Sagittarius opposed the USA’s Mars and formed up a t-square to the natal Neptune (2002-2003), the “ground” under Ford Motor Company began melting out from under it.

We can note similar transits through Chrysler Corporation’s chart. Chrysler has Jupiter in it’s fall at 21 Capricorn, the very degree of Ford’s Chiron. Chrysler’s Plutonic dismantling (years after the era of Lee Iaccoca)  began back in late 2000 into 2001 with Pluto’s transit in opposition to it’s natal Sun (15 Gemini). Pluto-Sun contacts can signal identity as well as health crises. A complete regeneration of the self (whether individual or corporation) is required. There are no guarantees on this side of the River Jordan of success, however encounters with survival are baked int he cake and emergence from the dark night of the soul depends upon one’s ability to endure.

It is not looking good for Chrysler. Chrysler also has the “earth” problem. As cited above, it has only Jupiter in it’s fall in Capricorn. If the company endures, it will probably be because it merges with GM or is bought by another auto manufacturer overseas. Chrysler’s Pluto-Mars conjunction (12 and 17 degrees of Cancer) are conjoined to the USA’s Sun, which will take the opposition from transiting Pluto in Capricorn from 2014-2017. Pluto in Capricorn dismantles what’s solid whether it be a manufacturing plant or a reputation.

General Motors chart is low on water. It has dissolving Neptune at 16 Cancer. Rick Waggoner (CEO) isn’t known for much sympathy but then neither are the other honchos who flew to D.C. to beg for taxpayer dollars in their corporate jets. (Robert Nardelli of Chrysler and Alan Mulally of Ford Motor). Pluto in Capricorn brings a sense of entitlement (Pluto is raw power) that arises out of corporations and institutions favored by old guard Capricorn. Plutocracy. Plutocrats. Mulally, CEO of Ford, says he’ll now work for $1.00 a year, but it doesn’t appear that the other two CEO’s are willing to make any concessions. Ah. I almost forgot to tell you that GM’s Uranus is at 12 Capricorn. Transiting Pluto will be conjoined to it in 2014.

President Bush granted the Big Three a bailout of $17bn on December 19th. This mere stipend will tide them over until March 31, 2009. We’ll have to see who’s left standing at the time 2009’s first two eclipses roll out. January 26th’s Solar eclipse finds angry Mars and talkative Mercury retrograde (fighting words) closely conjoined to the USA’s Pluto, Chrysler’s Jupiter and Ford’s Chiron.

The Lunar eclipse of February 9 reinvigorates spirited talk as Mercury, then in direct motion hovers at 24 degrees Capricorn. At both eclipses, transiting Mercury opposes the USA’s natal Mercury in the 8th house of loans. The January Solar eclipse’s Jupiter, Sun and Moon conjoin the USA’s South Node in Aquarius at the time the country is experiencing a nodal reversal (natal North Node is conjoined by transit by the South Node and vice versa).  There are similar nodal contacts found in the February Lunar eclipse as both take place in the sign Aquarius. Eclipses are wild cards that bring massive change suddenly and dramatically. Nodal reversal phases indicate a struggle with instincts that cry out against the necessity of change. Dire circumstances such as those facing the Big Three call for a Plutonic amputation of everything that no longer works to sustain the life.

Some planet points of interest:

Ford Motor companies Neptune at 3 Cancer conjoins the USA’s Venus. It’s natal Chiron at 21 Capricorn was the Ascendant sign and degree of the Big Three automaker’s meeting with Congress. Humbly with asses in hand, the humiliated big shots (Chiron in Capricorn) face Congress (governmental institution) to mewl and pewl for alms.

GM’s natal South Node at 1 Capricorn was hit earlier in 2008 by Transiting Pluto when it first dipped into the Saturn-ruled sign. It’s now taking its second slam (middle phase of the process) and will have one last nodal encounter with Pluto in early November 2009.

GM’s progressed Sun (3 Capricorn), Mercury (4 Capricorn) and Uranus (16 Capricorn) are promised intense encounters with the underworld God of do or die for some time to come. If GM survives the several Plutonic hits to it’s natal South Node, and progressed Sun and Mercury, it will have to gear up for what could blind-side it once Pluto hits it’s Uranus.

Looking back to the late 60’s when Uranus and Pluto conjoined in Virgo may be helpful. The era of largesse, broad freedoms and anything goes — the cultural revolution in America — is being revisited but this time with an eye towards restructuring not only our understanding of freedom, but towards a new definition of freedom.

Green vehicles, green technology, and recovery from fossil fuel addiction are the new cultural revolution. This “revolution” will be forced to manifest at the time transiting Uranus (now in Pisces) moves to Aries (May 2010) and squares transiting Pluto in Capricorn. The big transit in the sky will resonate with Pluto’s transits across GM’s progressed planets mentioned above.

Beleaguered Chrysler Corp. shares nodes in close proximity. At the time the corporation was created (out of the remains of Maxwell Motor Co.), the USA had experienced a nodal return. Chrysler’s lunar nodes are less than a degree from the USA’s. Chrysler is in orb of it’s Uranus return and it’s progressed Pluto is less than a degree past the USA’s natal Sun. It is easy to identify the disintegration of a core part of American identity with strong Pluto-Sun signatures.

What is even more moving is how the Big Three meltdown is affecting the State of Michigan. It’s 6 Aquarius Sun (identity linked to technology and innovation) is conjoined to it’s natal Neptune (the dissolver). The two are spot on the USA’s South Node. Keep in mind what I said about 2009’s first two eclipses (above), and it’s easy to see that the already hardpressed automotive state is set to unravel. It will take a long, long time for Michigan to find the will and the ability to rebuild itself. I suspect it will take until transiting Uranus reaches Michigan’s natal Pluto (14 Aries) for a rebirthing.

Michigan is also experiencing another Saturn return (precise Virgo) and the experience of it is grim. It’s Venus at 8 Capricorn close in opposition to the USA’s Venus, Jupiter and Sun will take the deep impact of Pluto’s transit through the sign. Venus in Saturn has often signaled economic downturns for Michigan, particularly Flint, MI (home of General Motors) which has been memorialized by the iconic Michael Moore in his film ROGER & ME where he “Director Michael Moore pursues GM CEO Roger Smith to confront him about the harm he did to Flint, Michigan with his massive downsizing.”

Michigan’s progressed Sun at 24 Cancer is conjoined to the USA’s Mercury. By Progression and Solar Arc Direction, Michigan’s Sun will come to 27 Cancer to oppose the USA’s natal Pluto. It’s progressed lunar nodes at 27 Aries/27 Libra, respectively, are already in square to USA Pluto. The dismantling of Michigan, the state the birthed the iconic automobile and the innovative technology that produced them, are collapsing under their own weight. Capricorn’s shadow is the Senex, or (in brief) Crusty, immovable, stubborn, entrenched Chronos/Father Time who becomes ever more rigid because he can’t move with TIME, the very thing he is in charge of. Pluto is decay. It takes that which has outgrown it’s usefulness and rots it. At the end of the process, the entity under this assault either rebirths like the phoenix or disappears into the pages of history.

TRIBUTE TO EARL WILLIAMS:

tulips

Tribute to Earl Williams, long time family friend who worked 35 years for Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Williams passed away of a massive heart attack on December 17, 2008. He was 76 years old. Mr. Williams and his wife Shirley raised a family, had a beautiful home, put their children through college, and had settled comfortably into retirement. Mr. Williams always made sure to get bread to the food banks at his church and in his neighborhood so that those less fortunate than he would be able to eat.

Happy Solstice

cattreeHappy Solstice!

The Sun enters Capricorn December 21 at 4:04 AM PDT/7:04 AM EST.

The Winter Solstice is the longest night of year which ushers in the rebirth the Sun. After the solstice, the days begin to get longer until we reach the Summer Solstice (June 21-22) when the the longest day of the year takes place signaling the time of the Sun’s decline.

This year I’m asking all of you who’d like to participate to join me in a candle burning ritual at a time of your chosing in your time zone. I’d like for us to honor not only the crossing over of Starcat Buggie, but to hold the light high for any and all souls we want to offer up to sacred memory. I’m thinking about the Winter Solstice Memorial for 2008 as a way of consciously embedding memories into the Akashic Record. Join me, then, on December 21st by lighting your memory candles.

Taking a break to think of Buggie

I’m taking a bit of a break from the blog to think about Buggie. To grieve the passing of the second of the three original Starcats. She was born April 10, 1993 at 1:00 pm (rectified) in Woodland Hills, California and crossed over December 8, 2008 at 1:58 pm, Santa Monica, California. Jaqqi and Shadow, her two kitty cohorts and I miss her very much.

Pluto in Capricorn – Saturday’s quick notes I posted on a list

p_pluto2Michael Lutin’s video on YOUTUBE makes Pluto’s run through Capricorn accessible, meaningful and humorous. That is not to say that he dismisses the depth of Pluto’s role and how we will experience it via power, structures, institutions, corporations, governing, and so on. That wouldn’t be a practice of authentic astrology.

Lutin humanizes what we sense as dire by drawing in Uranus’s transit into Aries and how Mars ruled Aries will confront the power excesses of Saturn ruled Pluto in Capricorn. Let’s not forget Saturn’s transit into Venus ruled Libra — Madam Justice. How about dumping that FISA bill and restoring America’s rule of law!?

The coming grand square (USA’s Cancerian planets) point to a dynamic, vibrant…..[dare I say it?] Renaissance! That is not to say getting there won’t involve struggle. Some of the struggle will surely be earth-bound and earth-oriented. That’s Pluto’s Capricorn transit role in our evolution as a people, a country and a world. What forms of tyranny will we be liberating ourselves from this time? First it was King George’s tyranny coupled with his corrupt, crushing commerce in the 13 colonies. What will we throw off after King George Bush’s 8 years of appalling destruction? [Also our 200+years of the doctrine of “manifest destiny” which, in short, states that we have the right to acquire and consume anything and everything no matter who we kill, or what we destroy because Jesus told us so].

The recasting of America, The retrieval of her legacy, the demise of her predatory capitalism and ruthlessness consumerism have to undergo a vast reformation if we as a species, nation and globe are going to survive. Indeed, I add the welfare of animal entities and plant species to those of us that sorely need our love and advocacy. Neptune in Aquarius in mutual reception with Uranus in Pisces says to me — in part — that the group (Aquarius) needs to spiritualize it’s vision towards a radically (Uranus) new level of understanding of how animal entities are co-equal with us in the fabric of life. We on this list do that, but we live in a wide world where far too many don’t.

My take is that Uranus moving to Aries [making 7 squares to Pluto in Cap!] is going to tear up the old rug and lay down a whole new matrix.

I’m actually jazzed about this. Kinda scared too. But I wouldn’t miss this ride for anything.

Take heart. We’re going to prevail.
